Americans are divided about whether they like potential first lady Michelle Obama, with 30 percent seeing her favorably and 35 percent unfavorably. And they're just not sure what to make of the wife of the presumptive Republican nominee, Cindy McCain, who isn't as well known as her Democratic rival, according to a new AP-Yahoo News poll.

NRA to Target Obama With Big Ad Blitz

The National Rifle Association says it will spend $15 million on a media blitz meant to cast Barack Obama, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, as a threat to Second Amendment rights. The politically powerful gun rights group is concerned that a recent Supreme Court victory may be undermined by an Obama presidency.

In 2004, John McCain condemned Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that attacked the military record of John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee. But as this election's GOP candidate, McCain has received nearly $70,000 from the group's top contributors. Why accept the funds? Because the donors support McCain's "agenda of reform, prosperity and peace," his spokesman says.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama unveils a faith-based program plan likely to spark controversy over hiring allowances. Under the plan, groups receiving federal funding for social services programs would be still able to hire and fire based on faith in other, non-federally funded areas of the organization.
